Throughout the past 12 years, APP has developed and refined equipment that utilizes the principles of non-thermal plasma physics to provide for a powerful, cost-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to substantially reduce odor in specific types of emissions. 
 
The technology is based on modular systems consisting of two key components:

A High Voltage Power Supply. APP delivers ModuPower SMPS with our systems. As of today, probably the most advanced and effective Switch Mode Power Supply available in the market.

A Plasma Reaction Chamber. In such a chamber, odorous emissions pass through a plasma discharge field where odor abating processes are initiated and take place. website-images-app

This design, in which a contaminant emission is directly exposed to a plasma discharge field, is radically different from various types of “indirect” systems that can be found. APP’s direct systems offers many benefits compared to the indirect ones, and it will always provide for a more energy-efficient abatement.

The modular design makes APP’s Non-Thermal Plasma technology a competitive alternative for air volumes of approx 5,000 cfm and upwards. Built entirely in stainless steel, it can withstand even the most corrosive environment and emissions. This, combined with a technology free of moving parts, makes a product that will last for many years with limited service and maintenance requirements.  With more than 250 systems installed and in operation around the world, many at plants of companies found on the Forbes 500 list, and a highly skilled and experienced staff to assist our customers, APP is well positioned to take the Non-Thermal Plasma technology to new markets and industries as well as those already served.  

How it works

Plasma is often referred to as the fourth state of matter, the other ones being solid, fluid and gas. It can be described as a collection of ions, electrons and charge-neutral gas molecules. In non-thermal plasma, only electrons attain the energy level normally found in all components in thermal plasma. As a consequence, the same type of reactions and oxidation that normally is constrained to occur at high temperatures is possible at room temperature and a minimum of energy input.  Such reactions and oxidation within odorous molecules in an emission will cause the molecules to decompose into less odorous ones.
In addition, APP’s systems will function as highly efficient electrostatic precipitators, collecting odorous particles and aerosols in emissions passing through them.
