Our Challenge

To eliminate 250,000 cfm of foul air from Rothsay Recycles, a subsidiary of Maple Leafs Food, and one of the largest rendering plants in Canada.

Our Solution

A fully automated turnkey Biofiltair biofilter system was designed from a three month pilot study which produced a 94% total odor removal upon completion.  The fully integrated system utilizing our 10 year warranty Biosorbens® permanent media was erected using an acid resistant concrete structure consisting of two banks of three cells, with a central air plenum and a hollow core roof. Stainless steel and FRP ducting along with six VFD controlled fans were installed and tied into an advanced pressure sensing network to become fully automatic. As a result the Biofiltair can easily be controlled under a variety of complex operating conditions.

Our Success

Following the success of the pilot study, BIOREM® developed a well defined mathematical model for odor removal efficiency.

Due to the success at this location, Rothsay, Recycles acquired BIOREM® to design, build and operate another Biofiltair system at their Moorfield, ON, location, which is currently running with a 98% total odor removal efficiency
