Towson, MD Pumping Station Print

Our Challenge

Management at the Baltimore County’s 10 mgd Long Quarter pumping station, required treatment to solve a long running, major odor problem. Treatment was needed to control the H2S which spiked as high as 200 ppm in the summer months. In addition to ending complaints from the community they were looking for a system to end the high cost of chemicals which were currently being used for odor control. bmf_qtr_view_baltimore

Our Solution

A BMF-12 biofilter system was designed, manufactured and installed by BIOCUBE®. The small 12’ diameter footprint of this vessel allowed the pumping station to maintain underground access needed on the property. The BMF-12 vessel installed was a 4-layer media type which is rated for removal of average concentrations of 100 ppm H2S with spikes as high as 200 ppm.

Our Success

Since its start up in October of 2002 the plant has received no complaints regarding odors and local residences have actually stopped by to say how happy they were with the installation.
